Your Empty Nest Coach Podcast, Episode 32: What Life Skills Should My High School Child Be Mastering Now To Be Successful In College?

Hello, my Empty Nest Friend!

This episode topic comes from a Green Popsicle Stick Group Facebook member. Once again, when I sat down to organize and script this out, I had no idea that I had so many thoughts on the subject. Too funny.

Katie asked, “What skills are you glad you taught your daughter before she went off to college? And, is there anything you wished you’d spent more time on with her?”

These are fantastic questions from Katie, whose daughter is already ahead of the game, as you will hear in this episode.

Hello, my Empty Nest Friend!

Well, here we go, I’m sharing how I lost 50 pounds – and am still losing. I finally hit the 50-pound mark, between recording this episode and go-live. And I sat at about 48 pounds lost for over two months. I’m proud that I didn’t let it get to me, didn’t let the drama creep in and kept doing what I’ve been doing. Let me tell you it feels terrific to not let food boss me around.

More about that in this episode where I share the catalyst for my weight loss. Enjoy.

PS – The picture (above) in this post is the perfect example of me working on “good enough.” I would never have put that out in the world – not because of my weight but because of the lame clean-up work around the photos in my featured photo at the top. The old me would have kept working on it to make it close to “perfect.” The new me thinks, “This is good enough. The message comes across, and I can now work on something else.” Progress comes in all areas of our lives -for all of us. Celebrate your wins like that – even when, to the world, it looks like a loss, you know the progress you are making inside. {{hugs}}

Photo from my daughter’s high school graduation. Just before I changed my thoughts about food – definitely a top weight photo for me (pictured with my dear father).

The shock on my face when I fit comfortably into mediums.
