This podcast is for you, a mother who years ago walked away from a career to raise your child. Sure, you’ve been busy volunteering, car pools, maybe part-time work and taking care of everyone. But your main gig, that has been your child. Now, that they are in their later years of high school, the empty nest looms ahead for you and it is freaking you out. I’ve been there and I get it. Together, we’ll turn our freaking out energy into freaking awesome energy.

Hello, my future empty nest friend. This is episode 50. What? Oh, my goodness. This is just crazy. Last year, at this time, I was assembling my first episode, and here we are at episode 50. This is worth celebrating, so this episode is all about celebrating you. You can celebrate you. It is your birthday? Maybe you got a new job? Having a baby? Reached a personal milestone? You know, you can celebrate any way you want. Truly. You can have your own party. You can buy your own cake. Why be upset with others who aren’t ready to celebrate the way you are ready to celebrate? You can also hope that others do what you want for you, and then be mad when they don’t deliver as you expect, or you can plan your own party. But, Christine, people will talk about me. Okay, my friend, people are going to talk about you either way. Why not have the celebration you want to have?

I heard this concept on a podcast quite some time ago. It took that, kind of over some time, and my boss sharing her own personal realization of this, that I began to really consider it. It takes a little bit of courage to step out and do something like this. But maybe, if we all began celebrating ourselves and inviting others to our party, then others will begin to celebrate themselves, too. For big things and small things.
00:02:49
It’s also funny because I don’t tend to celebrate much, lately. I’m fairly peaceful in my life most of the time, and external celebrations don’t cause me to feel much different. But then, every once in a while, I find a moment that causes me to feel it’s worth recognizing and going forward, I am taking it upon myself to do that.

When I reached 10,000 downloads for my podcast, I decided to eat off my usual eating plan, buy a carvel ice cream cake and celebrate with my co-workers. Today, as you listen to my 50th episode, I will be celebrating. I haven’t figured out how, exactly as I record this, but follow me on Instagram, @emptynestcoach, to see what I have come up with.

What do you have to celebrate? Please celebrate it out loud with others. Don’t rely on others to determine your worthiness to celebrate. Don’t rely on others to determine how you should celebrate. If you want a walk alone in the woods to celebrate, you take the walk alone in the woods and enjoy it. If you want to throw a party and can afford that, do it. Be you. Be fully you. Be proud of you, because, you, my friend, you are amazing. By you celebrating your milestone, you’ll encourage others to do the same. Let’s pass on celebration, together.
00:04:11
Please let me know what you celebrate. I’m cheering you on. The Questions I have for you in this episode are: have you had a celebration for yourself? What will be your next celebration? I invite you to fly on over to our Facebook Group to share your answers to these questions with our amazing flock. Our name is Green Popsicle Sticks. Want to know why? Listen to episode number 17. Or head to my website: YourEmptyNestCoach.com/community for links to join our flock. I know that the adjustment to not having your kiddos at home full-time isn’t always easy, but it sure can be a ton more fun with a flock of friends. We look forward to seeing you there.
